Hi, I’m Sandy and I’ve been teaching needle felting since 2014. Over the years, I’ve tried and tested more suppliers than I can count. This guide pulls together my absolute favourites. It’s not a tutorial, just a practical list to help you source quality materials, find inspiration, and avoid wasting money on subpar supplies. Whether you’re just starting out or building your stash, this list will save you time, effort, and money on unnecessary supplies and poor quality wool.

Where To Buy The Best Needle Felting Supplies

Back in 2013, finding needle felting supplies was a bit of a challenge. Today, we’re spoiled for choice, but that can be overwhelming. That’s why I’ve gathered everything I’ve learned into this one guide. Real recommendations from someone who’s been felting and teaching it for over a decade.

A Quick Note Before We Dive In

This guide is based entirely on personal experience. I’m not affiliated with any of the businesses mentioned, and I don’t receive anything for recommending them. I just want you to have access to the best materials, like I wish I’d had when I started.

New To Needle Felting? Start With These 5 Essentials:

  • Core wool
  • Carded wool
  • A 38-gauge felting needle (good all-rounder)
  • A 40-gauge felting needle (finishing touches)
  • A foam, wool, or rice-filled hessian felting mat
  • A simple, easy-to-follow pattern

A variety of needle felting tools and wool roving are displayed on felt cushions. The tools include a single needle with a wooden handle, two multi-needle tools with plastic handles, and bundles of turquoise and white wool roving.

Bonus Tip: A good quality starter kit can make all the difference when you’re just beginning. The Heidi Feathers Starter Kit is a great option with all the basics included.

One More Thing
